A note to our authors: Please be aware that there has been a rise of AI-generated scams targeting authors. Many of these scams express interest in hosting an author for a book club or reading group while others are posing as editors. The scams use AI to pull specific details about individual books and are enthusiastic about helping authors reach a new audience. The scams often reference established, legitimate book clubs and use email addresses that do not immediately appear as suspicious.
The Press has received a number of these emails in our inboxes and are aware that authors are being targeted directly as well.
You can read more about some of these scams in the Calgary Herald and the New York Times.
Please do not engage with these emails. You can forward any publicity or marketing emails (suspicious or not) to our marketing department at marketing.aupress@athabascau.ca.
