25 Years of Ed Tech: The Remix

[book cover] 25 Years of EdTech Book

We are excited to announce that 25 Years of Ed Tech by Martin Weller is now available as an open-access PDF on our website. In this concise and necessary retrospective, Weller demonstrates a rich history of innovation and effective implementation of ed tech across higher education. From Bulletin Board Systems to blockchain, Weller follows the trajectory of education by focusing each chapter on a technology, theory, or concept that has influenced each year since 1994. Throughout this historical overview, Weller advocates for a critical and research-based approach to new technologies, particularly in light of disinformation, the impact of social media on politics, and data surveillance trends. You can read the book for free here.

The cover of 25 Years of Ed Tech is designed by Bryan Mathers of Visual Thinkery, an artist and developer connected to the educational technology field. Not only did he design the cover, he created a version for you to add your own spin on it! Head over to the Remixer Machine to change the text, colours, and speed of those whirling x-ray specs.

We played around the options and here’s what we came up with!

We also spent some time exploring the Remixer Machine and found a few other tools to remix this cover!
