Open Access Week: New Reading Platform

We’ve been dropping hints for a few months now and Open Access Week seems like the perfect time to make our announcement official: we are launching a new reading platform! Currently all AU Press books are available in both print and digital formats, including a free PDF download. With this new reading platform, readers will have even more options for accessing the essential content in our catalogue.

Our new reading platform will be powered by Manifold Scholarship, an open-source, mobile-friendly publishing platform that encourages new ways of thinking about the scholarly monograph and publication.

The web-based editions of our books will allow readers to:

  • Control type size and margins.
  • Change to dark mode for easier reading.
  • Log in to annotate and highlight. Readers will be able to share annotations or keep them private.
  • Start a reading group and invite classrooms, colleagues, or book clubs to join a discussion and share annotations.
  • Explore additional resources such as video, images, source material, and more.
  • Enjoy a great reading experience on a variety of devices including phones, tablets, or desktops.

The result is interactive monographs that will encourage new ways of thinking about and engaging with long-form scholarship. Our most recent titles will be available in the next few weeks and we’ll be uploading our backlist throughout 2020. Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter channels to be the first to know when the platforms launches!
